As the Pandemic has been raging for over a year now, our life is impacted in many ways: from individual’s physical and mental health to the economy and society as a whole. To safeguard public health, the International Buddhist Temple decided to close all indoor halls in February last year. All chanting sessions and prayer ceremonies were held internally by sangha members only.
At the turn of a New Year, the Temple is grateful to erect a fifteen feet tall statue of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva (Guanyin Pusa) at the forecourt. This brass statue of a history over fifty years, serene and compassionate, oversees those who come to pray and make a wish. May all our kind wishes come true.
On 31 Jan, the Temple held a ceremony to make offerings to the Three Jewels and all Devalokas as it is customary for Chinese Buddhists to express their gratitude to all Devalokas at the end of a year. Since the Temple declined visits from members of the public, our devout volunteers have not been able to offer their help at the Temple. Since last February, various kinds of preparation work for all rituals and ceremonies were undertaken by our sangha members solely. The Gratitude Offering Ceremony is no exception. Let’s take a look at some of the food offerings designed and prepared by nuns at the Temple.
The Temple is holding another Ceremony of Offerings to Devalokas on 21 February to make wishes for blessings in the coming year. Those who are interested to make offerings or donations, please call (604)274-2822 for details.
